Schedule Generator, 26 Teams

For a 26 team league there is a cycle of 6 schedules.

The schedule is 17 weeks, so each team has a bye week

Each set really has just 3 different schedules, one for a given division playing each division from the other conference. The other three are effectively the same with home & away reversed. This is necessary because in cycle 1, where Div A plays Div X, for the matchup of the two first places teams the Div A winner is home. If just 3 were used, every 3 years when Div A played Div X the Div A winner would always be home. This way next time around is gets reversed.

They based similar to the NFL's 28 team schedules. Schedules are prety symmetrical, with the exception of the two 5th place teams. When the NFL had 28 teams, the four 5th place teams had an odd schedule, they each played the 4 teams in the 4 team div once, and played the other 3 5th place teams (4 games as same conf played twice). So they had an easy sched primarily due to haveing 4 games against theother 5th place teams rather than 4 games against a division in the other conference. These 5th place teams do not have an easier schedule, in fact they have an almost perfectly neutral schedule. They play the 4 teams in their division twicce (8) and each of the other 8 teams in their conference once. They en up with NO non-conference games. I think its better than giving them the cake schedule, and better than them playing a non-division team twice. And the rest of it does work out very nicely.

It's recommended to use them in order or reverse order, but doesnt really matter which one you start with. The idea is to rotate the 3 non-conference divisions. So an order of 1,5,3,4,2,6 for instance, would still give proper rotation.

Cycle 1,4:
Div A(5) vs Div Z(4)
Div B(4) vs Div X(4)
Div C(4) vs Div Y(5)
Cycle 2,5:
Div A(5) vs Div X(4)
Div B(4) vs Div Y(5)
Div C(4) vs Div Z(4)
Cycle 3,6:
Div A(5) vs Div Y(5)
Div B(4) vs Div Z(4)
Div C(4) vs Div X(4)

Be sure that whichever of your divisions you use as Div A is always Div A, or the matchups wont work right from year to year. You can use team city, abbreviation, or nickname. Just be sure each is unique. And finally, once you enter in the teams and hit one, you should be able to use your back button and have the teams still in there, and switch to a different cycle if you want to look them over first. Also, entering teams and trying the same cycle more than once wont change anything. It doesnt randonly generate anything. It basically has 6 separate schedules stored and replaces the teams to suit your standings.
